Fatal Clovis Bicycle Crash on McKinley Avenue near Temperance Avenue

Clovis, California (August 14, 2019) – Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that left a bicyclist dead on Tuesday morning in the area of Clovis.

The deadly crash occurred a while before 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, on McKinley Avenue, just east of Temperance Avenue.

As per the CHP officials, a 17-year-old Clovis East student was driving a Toyota Sienna on McKinley Avenue when for reasons still under investigation; their car swerved onto the right shoulder and clipped a westbound bicycle from behind.

The impact ejected the rider from his bicycle.

Responding emergency crews rushed the bicyclist to a local hospital where he later died. His name was not immediately released awaiting notification of next of kin.

The Sienna was carrying four other minors at the time.

Authorities are yet to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

No additional information concerning this crash was provided.

An investigation is underway.
