Bicyclist William Taylor Struck and Killed by Police Vehicle on Highway 273 near Thomas Road in Anderson

Anderson, California (October 16, 2020) – The Shasta County Sheriff-Coroner has released the name of the Redding bicyclist who died following a traffic collision Sunday night on a highway in Anderson.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., October 11, authorities received a report of a crash involving a bicycle and an Anderson police vehicle on Highway 273 near Thomas Road.

33-year-old William Riley James Taylor was riding a bicycle in the highway’s fast lane when he was struck by the police vehicle.

Sadly, Taylor was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Meanwhile, a sedan hit another officer who was responding to the crash site.

That officer survived with moderate injuries while the sedan driver was rushed to an area hospital for treatment of major injuries.

An investigation into the deadly accident is underway.
