Milpitas Bicycle Accident at N. Park Victoria and Kennedy Drives Kills Haolan Chen
Milpitas, California (January 21, 2021) – The 7-year-old victim who died following a pedestrian accident in Milpitas has been identified as Haolan Chen.
The suspected hit-and-run collision, involving a stolen vehicle along Oakland Road in San Jose on January 2, took place at N. Park Victoria and Kennedy Drives.
Officials spotted the stolen car, a 2015 White Lexus R35, on E. Calaveras Boulevard, near N. Park Victoria Drive but its driver flew away.
The Lexus ran a stop sign before hitting Chen, who was riding a bicycle across the street at a marked crosswalk.
Chen was accompanied by his father and his sister prior to the collision.
Chen was attended to by medical personnel before being transported to an area hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
36-year-old Kristalinna Pacheco exited the vehicle after the wreck and attempted to escape on foot.
Meanwhile, a male passenger in the Lexus climbed into the driver seat and left the crash site, leaving Pacheco behind. Pacheco was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail where she faces charges of homicide, hit and run causing injury or death, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
