Johnny Chu Killed in San Jose Bicycle Accident on Vistapark Drive near West Capitol Expressway
San Jose, California (July 19, 2019) – 70-year-old Johnny Chu of San Jose has been identified as the bicyclist killed in a traffic collision Monday morning in the area of San Jose, according to authorities.
The deadly collision happened a while before 8:00 a.m. Monday, July 15, on Vistapark Drive near West Capitol Expressway.
As per the CHP officials, a gray Chevy SUV was pulling out of Bonfare Market and was heading southbound when it struck Chu and another cyclist traveling the same direction.
Responding emergency crews confirmed that Chu suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The other rider was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Officials confirmed that the SUV driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officials.
No additional information concerning this crash was provided.
An investigation is ongoing.
