Tate Meintjes Killed in Bicycle Accident on Sand Canyon Road in Redlands

Redlands, California (March 12, 2019) – A teenage bicyclist died after being struck by a car while training for a bicycle race in Redlands on Monday, March 11.

According to a local news source, the fatal bicycle accident happened on Sand Canyon Road at about 10:52 a.m.

As per the report, 19-year-old Tate Meintjes of Reno and a group of riders were previewing a section of the route a day before the Redlands Bicycle Classic when he was struck by a car.

The teenager sustained major injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

No other information was provided.

An investigation into the incident is underway.
