At Least 1 Airlifted After Thermal Car Accident on Highway 86 at 81st Avenue

Thermal, California (January 30, 2023) – Three people were hurt in a traffic collision that took place Sunday morning in Thermal, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Two vehicles collided at about 11:47 a.m. on Highway 86 at 81st Avenue.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found a gray Kia Sportage and another car involved in the accident.

One person was reportedly stuck in one of the cars.

Three people were injured in the collision. A Mercy Air ambulance was requested to respond and airlift at least one person to the hospital. The patient sustained major injuries. It was not clear if the other patients were hospitalized.

The northbound lanes of Highway 86 remained blocked to allow the helicopter to land.

All lanes were reopened at 1:22 p.m.
