3 Killed, Several Others Injured, in 2-Vehicle Collision at Orangethorpe Avenue and Melrose Street

Placentia, California (January 26, 2023) – Three people, including a child, died, and several others were injured in a two-vehicle wreck that took place Wednesday night in Placentia, police said.

The deadly collision occurred at about 8:45 p.m. at Orangethorpe Avenue and Melrose Street.

A passenger car and a passenger van were involved in the collision.

Units from the Placentia police and fire departments responded to the scene.

The firefighters pronounced two adults dead at the scene. A child was transported to the hospital, where they died from their injuries.

At least six others were hospitalized with injuries of varying extents.

Authorities said most victims were occupants of the van and were ejected during the crash.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
