Vanessa Aragonez Killed in Pacific Beach Accident on Riviera Drive

Pacific Beach, California (January 25, 2023) – 22-year-old Vanessa Urbina Aragonez was identified as the woman who died in a DUI accident that happened Sunday in the Crown Point area of Pacific Beach, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday on Riviera Drive.

According to authorities, Aragonez had exited a parked Chevrolet Tahoe and was standing next to the car on a sidewalk when a Toyota Tacoma veered off the roadway and hit her and a man she was with.

Aragonez died from her injuries at the crash scene

The 24-year-old man who was with her got pinned underneath the pickup truck until firefighters responded and freed him. He was then hospitalized with unknown injuries.

Police arrested the driver of the pickup truck, 22-year-old Nestor Hernandez, and booked him into jail on suspicion of murder, gross vehicular manslaughter, and DUI.
