1 Killed and 1 Seriously Injured in South Lake Tahoe Car Accident on Highway 50 near Elks Club Drive
South Lake Tahoe, California (September 9, 2019) – A deadly car crash which occurred in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday left one person dead and another with severe injuries, the police said.
As per the police report, the accident happened at about 11:40 a.m. September 7, on Highway 50 near Elks Club Drive.
A big rig truck and another vehicle were traveling eastbound on Highway 50 when for unknown reasons, they collided on the bridge over the Upper Truckee River near Elks Club Drive.
The semi-truck which had one full trailer of fuel rolled over and caught fire after the collision.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and pronounced the driver of the big rig dead.
The driver of the second vehicle was critically injured and was rushed to a nearby local hospital for treatment.
The names of both victims were not immediately disclosed.
No further information was provided regarding the incident.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
