30-Year-Old Man Dies, 2 Hospitalized after Phelan Car Crash on Highway 138 near Wimmer Road
Phelan, California (January 12, 2021) –A man was killed in a four-vehicle accident that left two other parties injured on Saturday afternoon in Phelan, officials said.
The multi-vehicle collision occurred on Highway 138, east of Wimmer Road at about 12:20 p.m., on January 9.
As per the CHP report, a 2003 Honda was headed eastbound on Highway 138 at a high rate of speed when it lost control and collided with a 2010 Lexus in the eastbound lanes.
The Honda then crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into a 2016 Ford. It then continued traveling in the westbound lanes where it collided with a 2012 Jeep, the officials said.
Following the collision, a 30-year-old man, who was a passenger in the Honda, was reportedly ejected onto the roadway.
The 30-year-old passenger was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Honda’s driver was also taken to Arrowhead Regional with major injuries.
The driver of the Ford, from Upland, was taken to Desert Valley Hospital with minor injuries.
An investigation into the collision is underway.
