Woman Dies in Lakeside Traffic Accident on State Route 67 near Foster Truck Trail
Lakeside, California (March 24, 2020) – A 37-year-old Alpine woman was killed in a traffic collision on Monday morning near Lakeside, the California Highway Patrol said.
The incident took place on SR 67 near Foster Truck Trail shortly before 7 a.m. on Monday, March 23.
CHP said the Alpine woman was in a Toyota Yaris traveling northbound on SR 67 when, for unknown reasons, she swerved into the path of oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a southbound Chevrolet Silverado 3500 pickup.
The pickup then went into the northbound lane and collided with a Chevrolet HHR station wagon before being hit by a Toyota Prius. The HHR was also struck from the back by a Chevrolet 1500 pickup.
The driver of the Toyota Yaris was killed in the collision. Her name was not immediately released pending notification of the next of kin.
The driver of the Chevrolet HHR sustained major injuries and was taken to UCSD Medical Center in San Diego. Two other motorists and one passenger had minor injuries.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the accident.
The CHP is investigating the crash.
