At Least One Person Dies, Another Hospitalized in El Centro Vehicle Collision on 8 Freeway

El Centro, California (November 21, 2022) – At least one person died and another was airlifted after a car crash that occurred Sunday evening in El Centro.

The collision happened on the eastbound 8 Freeway, just west of Mile Maker 20 at around 5:56 p.m. on November 20.

Officials say a white Toyota Tacoma and a white Kia Forte were located at the scene.

Reportedly, one of the cars crossed from the westbound lane into the eastbound lane, hence colliding.

The impact of the accident sent one of the vehicles to overturn, trapping two people.

At least one person was killed in the collision. Firefighters requested an air ambulance.

At least one person was airlifted to a hospital in an unknown condition.

Another second party sustained minor injuries and was rushed to hospital before he was arrested for an unknown traffic violation.

The Animal Control Unit was requested to respond and transport a dog involved in the wreck.

Due to limited available details about the mishap, an investigation into the crash is underway.
