San Bernardino, California (March 21, 2020) – A crash involving a patrol vehicle left a bicyclist dead on Thursday afternoon in San Bernardino.

According to a local news source, the wreck happened at around 4:55 p.m. Thursday, March 19, on Baseline Street near Valencia Avenue.

Authorities said a 61-year-old San Bernardino man was riding westbound on Baseline Street when he attempted to cross the five-lane road and was struck by a patrol vehicle that was responding to a call.

The bicyclist succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His name was not immediately released.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
