10-Year-Old Boy Dies after Bakersfield Big Rig Accident on Highway 99 near Rosedale Highway

Bakersfield, California (October 29, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Wednesday morning multi-vehicle accident involving a big rig that killed a 10-year-old boy in Bakersfield.

The deadly accident occurred, shortly before noon, on October 28, on Highway 99 near Rosedale Highway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, traffic came to a complete stop on southbound Highway 99, and a car carrying the 10-year-old boy was stopped behind a big rig in the no. 33 lane.

A second big rig failed to slow down for traffic and rear-ended the car, pushing it into the first semi-truck, the officials said.

The boy sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A woman who was driving the car was also hospitalized with major injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
