Daniel Velasquez Identified as 40-Year-Old Man Killed in Bakersfield Pedestrian Crash on Calloway Drive near Rosedale Highway

Bakersfield, California (September 17, 2020) – Authorities have identified Daniel Santos Velasquez, 40, as the male pedestrian who was killed in a traffic collision early this month in northwest Bakersfield.

The crash occurred in the 2700 block of Calloway Drive near Rosedale Highway at around 9:39 p.m. Thursday, September 3.

According to the police, Velasquez was hit by a vehicle that was traveling southbound on the roadway.

Velasquez was reportedly walking outside of a marked crosswalk on Calloway Drive when the accident occurred.

Sadly, Velasquez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.

Intoxication was not suspected of having played a role in the mishap.

The crash remains under investigation.
