Enrique Sanchez Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash at County Road 9 and Sixth Avenue in Orland

Orland, California (April 26, 2018) – According to California Highway Patrol, a Corning man was killed in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday morning in Orland.

The collision took place at about 5:45 a.m. April 25, at the intersection of County Road 9 and Sixth Avenue northeast of Orland.

As per the authorities, Enrique Sanchez, 55, was driving a 1994 Ford Ranger southbound on Sixth Avenue when he drove into the path of a 2009 GMC traveling west on County Road 9.

Craig Simons, 27, of Orland, applied brakes on the GMC and turned to avoid the collision but he was not successful.

The GMC struck the left front area of the Ford and Sanchez was thrown from the vehicle as he was not wearing a seatbelt.

Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remained under investigation.
