Fatal Pedestrian Accident Reported on Highway 74 in Homeland

Homeland, California (October 17, 2020) – A 35-year-old Hemet man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Friday morning in Homeland.

The California Highway Patrol said the accident was reported just after midnight on Highway 74 near Sultanas Road.

A man was reportedly crossing the highway when he was struck by a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz driven by a 19-year-old woman from Hemet.

The CHP said the driver did not see the pedestrian in time to avoid a collision.

The Riverside County Fire Department paramedics responded to the crash and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

The name of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.

Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash.

No arrest was made.

The accident remains under investigation.
