Fiery Head-On Crash on Midway Drive in Point Loma

Point Loma, California (June 22, 2018) – A person was injured Thursday afternoon in a fiery head-on collision in Point Loma, according to a local news source.

The crash occurred at around 12:45 p.m. June 21, in the 3600 block of Midway Drive, near the Valley View Casino Center.

Police said a black SUV and a white sedan were involved in the collision. The impact caused both cars to catch fire after the impact.

The SUV driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The white sedan matched the description of a vehicle which was involved in a hit-and-run crash earlier in Pacific Beach, where a driver struck a parked car. It wasn’t clear if it was the same driver who was involved in this collision.

A SigAlert was issued by the authorities shortly after 1 p.m. at the intersection of Sports Arena Boulevard and westbound 8 Freeway due to a ramp delay related to the collision.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the police.
