Jonathan Charbonnet Killed in Jamul Motorcycle Crash on Otay Lakes Road
Jamul, California (January 13, 2021) – Jonathan Michael Charbonnet, 43, of Chula Vista, has been identified as the motorcyclist who was killed in a collision involving a motorcycle and a bicycle on Sunday morning in Jamul.
As per the police report, the crash happened on Otay Lakes Road near the Pio Pico RV Resort and Campground at about 9:46 a.m. January 10.
The police said a group of cyclists was riding on Otay Lakes Road in a line when the passing motorcycle collided with one of the bicyclists.
The bicyclist, Julius Kim Cunanan, 40, of Chula Vista, who was involved in the crash, was the last line of other cyclists who were headed eastbound on the roadway.
Charbonnet was also riding his motorcycle eastbound in a group with three friends.
Cunanan and Charbonnet were killed in the crash, the police said.
Otay Lakes Road between the campground and Highway 94 was temporarily closed as the authorities examined the scene.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
