Jose Leyva Killed in San Jose Car Crash on Highway 101 near Tully Road

San Jose, California (September 17, 2020) – 22-year-old Jose Perez Leyva has been identified as the man who was killed in a car crash on Tuesday morning in San Jose, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.

The fatal crash was reported at around 1:17 a.m. September 15, on Highway 101 near the Tully Road onramp.

The California Highway Patrol said Leyva was traveling northbound on Highway 101 in a 2017 Honda Accord when, for unknown reasons, he slammed into the back of a big rig driven by a 40-year-old man from Hollister.

Leyva was killed in the crash.

It wasn’t reported if the big rig driver was injured.

The crash led to the closure of four northbound lanes of Highway 101.

All lanes were reopened by 3:00 a.m.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
