Major Injury Car Crash Reported on Hegenberger Road in Oakland

Oakland, California (September 18, 2020) – A 35-year-old Antioch man was hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision in Oakland on Thursday morning.

The crash was reported at around 7:45 a.m. in the 500 block of Hegenberger Road near the Interstate 880 Freeway.

As per the Oakland Police Department report, the Antioch man was driving a 2007 GMC Xfinity southbound on the roadway when he crashed into the rear of a City of Oakland flatbed truck.

The OPD said the GMC rolled down the embankment after the collision.

The GMC driver was trapped inside the vehicle but was freed by firefighters who responded to the accident.

The driver was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The truck driver escaped injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
