Officer Injured in Motorcycle Crash on Via Rancho Parkway in Escondido

Escondido, California (April 7, 2021) –A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was hospitalized after colliding with a vehicle in Escondido on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the CHP report, the accident happened at around 12:45 p.m. April 6, on Via Rancho Parkway near Lomas Serenas Drive.

The CHP officer was riding a motorcycle eastbound on Via Rancho Parkway when a Nissan Rogue SUV traveling northbound on Lomas Serenas Drive struck him.

The officer was ejected from the motorcycle after the crash.

The unidentified officer suffered major injuries and was rushed to Palomar Medical Center for treatment.

The SUV driver was not injured and remained at the scene.

Impairment did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
