Tow Truck Driver Killed in Crash on Highway 99 in Delano

Delano, California (October 16, 2020) – The California Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash that left a tow truck driver dead on Thursday night in Delano.

According to the CHP report, the accident happened at about 9:55 p.m. on Highway 99 just south of Woollomes Avenue.

The tow truck driver had stopped on the right shoulder of the highway to assist a stranded driver and was standing beside his vehicle, police said.

For unknown reasons, an SUV, driven by Grant August Miller, 48, struck the tow truck and its driver.

The tow truck driver was killed in the collision. His name was not immediately released.

Miller suffered minor injuries and was also arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.

No additional details about the crash were available.

The CHP is investigating the accident.
