4 Injured in Anaheim Accident when Driver Mistakes Gas Pedal for Brake Pedal, Crashing into Restaurant
Anaheim, California (May 23, 2020) – Police said four people were injured when a car crashed into a chicken restaurant Friday afternoon on Lincoln Avenue in Anaheim.
According to police, the car crashed into the restaurant at about 1 p.m. at a shopping center near Empire Street.
The man driving the car mistook the gas pedal and brake as he pulled into a parking stall and ended up crashing into a glass window.
The impact shattered the glass window, injuring the restaurant occupants. The vehicle, however, did not hit anyone.
Two women and two children suffered minor injuries in the incident.
A video of the incident showed the driver pulling into the parking stall at a slow speed but then suddenly accelerates instead of stopping.
Authorities said the driver was unlicensed and will be charged with driving without a license.
The driver cooperated with the investigators and was released at the scene.
Police are investigating whether the driver will face other charges.
