Xavier Leon Killed in Firestone Boulevard Car Crash Near Brookshire Avenue
Downey, California (December 14, 2016) – According to Downey Police Department a 4-month –old boy died and three adults injured early Saturday morning following a fatal car accident in Downey.
A 4-month-old boy, identified as Xavier Leon, of Bell Gardens, was identified as the victim killed in the crash.
The fatal car crash took place at around 2:00 a.m. between a black Mercedes-Benz and a red Chevrolet Silverado at the intersection of Firestone Boulevard and Brookshire Avenue.
Reportedly, a 23-year-old man was driving the SUV heading south on Brookshire Avenue when the SUV was struck by the Chevy, driven by a 34-year-old man heading eastbound on Firestone Boulevard.
Two SUV passengers, a 21-year-old woman and Leon, sustained significant injuries in the accident.
The two were rushed to the hospital for treatment where baby Leon succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The woman, however, survived and has since in stable condition.
According to the police, the two drivers involved in the accident sustained minor injuries, and it is not clear at this time if any of the drivers was cited or arrested.
The incident remains under investigation by the police to determine the cause and liability.
