1 Killed in Amador County Crash on Highway 16
Amador County, California (May 23, 2023) – One person died following a head-on collision Sunday in Amador, according to a police report.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on May 21 on Highway 16, west of Long Gate Road.
As per the report, a 2018 Toyota was heading west on the highway when the driver tried to pass another vehicle and collided with an oncoming 2023 Dodge.
The Toyota and Dodge drivers tried to swerve to the shoulder but could not avoid a head-on collision.
The Toyota driver, an 81-year-old woman from Jackson, died in the accident.
The second driver sustained minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
