Head-On Crash on Highway 101 in Santa Maria

Santa Maria, California (March 21, 2019) – At least one person was injured in a wrong-way collision that happened Thursday morning in Santa Maria, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers, Santa Maria police and AMR, responded to the accident scene which occurred at about 10:45 a.m. on Highway 101 at Betteravia Road.

According to the officers, two vehicles collided head-on and one of them overturned onto its roof.  Two people were trapped in the vehicles.

Authorities said one of the vehicles was traveling the wrong way prior to the accident.

At least one person sustained moderate injuries in the accident.

The crash is under an active investigation.
