Nicole Scalone Dies after San Luis Obispo Crash on Highway 101
San Luis Obispo, California (June 13, 2019) – 22-year-old Nicole Scalone of Bellevue, Washington has been identified as the Cal Poly Student killed after a wrong-way collision early Wednesday morning in San Luis Obispo, according to authorities.
The deadly collision occurred at around 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, on Highway 101 near Higuera Street.
As per the CHP officials, Scalone was driving southbound on northbound Highway 101 in the No. 1 lane when her Ford Fiesta crashed head-on into a Honda Civic driven by a 43-year-old Los Osos man.
Responding emergency crews confirmed Scalone and the Honda Civic driver dead as a result of the crash.
The name of the Honda Civic motorist has not yet been released.
Authorities are yet to determine if alcohol, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
