Lucas K. Morriss Killed, 3 Children Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision in Jasper

Jasper County, Illinois (December 31, 2017) – Lucas K. Morriss, 34, of Quincy, was killed in a car accident, which left three juveniles injured, in Jasper County on Friday, December 30.

According to a local news report, the accident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. on Interstate 44.

As per the report, Lucas was traveling westbound on the road when his vehicle collided with another westbound vehicle for unknown reasons.

The impact of the collision caused Lucas’ car to veer off the roadway where it struck a sign before overturning.

Lucas was killed in the collision.

Two juvenile occupants of Lucas’ vehicle sustained moderate injuries while a third child suffered minor injuries. The three children were taken to Freeman Health System in Joplin for treatment.

The driver of the second vehicle, 37-year-old Rosette E. Scover, was unhurt.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
