Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Car on 15 Freeway and Bernardo Drive

Rancho Bernardo, California (July 12, 2019) – A pedestrian was killed after a traffic crash Friday morning in the area of Rancho Bernardo, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at around 4:00 a.m. Friday, on northbound 15 Freeway, near the West Bernardo Drive exit.

As per the CHP officials, a pedestrian was hit and killed by at least one vehicle for unknown reasons. Authorities said that one of the drivers initially believed that they had hit a deer. Other motorists also reported they had struck something.

Firefighters responded to the crash site and located a body showing signs of being hit by multiple cars.

Five traffic lanes were blocked by authorities following the crash. Traffic was diverted to the West Bernardo Road exit.

An investigation is underway.
