Ricky Gonzalez Dies after Long Beach Pedestrian Accident at Pacific Avenue and 16th Street
Long Beach, California (May 21, 2019) – A homeless man killed in a pedestrian accident Wednesday last week has been identified as 60-year-old Ricky Gonzalez in the area of Long Beach, according to authorities.
The deadly collision occurred at about 8:25 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at Pacific Avenue and 16th Street.
As per the CHP officials, Gonzalez was walking in a marked crosswalk at the junction when he was hit by a southbound silver 2000s Volkswagen Jetta. The man sustained critical injuries and died the next day at the hospital.
The involved driver reportedly fled the scene after the crash.
Officials said that a woman driving behind the suspect’s car pulled over but left the scene before officers arrived. Authorities said that the female was wearing a blue tank top, black leggings, and sandals.
