Citrus Heights, California (January 25, 2023) – The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified 41-year-old Kimberli Michele Washington of Sacramento as one of the two persons killed in a pedestrian accident on Sunday evening in Citrus Heights.

According to the Citrus Heights police, the accident happened around 7:45 p.m. on January 22 at Auburn Boulevard and Cobalt Way.

Police said a car traveling at a high rate of speed hit Washington as she was crossing Auburn Boulevard.

The vehicle then veered and crashed head-on into a car. The second car then hit a brick barrier due to the collision.

Washington suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the crash site. 

The motorist of the second car was rushed to a medical center, where they died.

The speeding driver was transported to the hospital to treat minor to moderate-degree injuries.

Authorities closed down Cobalt and San Tomas Drive following the accident.

The incident remains under investigation.
