On a scary Friday around midnight a legal street race, took the turn for the worst; leading to 3 dead and 2 seriously injured.
In Commerce California, on the Freeway, three were killed and two were seriously injured during a street race, which ended up being a chain- reaction crash. At first, it was believed that alcohol and drugs were the reason for this car accident, but later it came out to be that it wasn’t the factor at all.
Around midnight two allege drivers were racing at speeds up to 90mph, a Dodge Charger, and a Dodge Challenger, one of the drivers driving the Challenger, lost control of the vehicle, while trying to slow down ended up hitting a UPS semi- truck, causing the ups truck to go out of control, flipping in the air after hitting a Nissan car beyond recognition, when the truck landed it was surrounded by flames and busted into flames. The driver in the Dodge Challenger is identified as Daelio Lockhart. The Driver in the Charger, however, hasn’t been found.
The semi- truck driver, was confirmed to be in his mid 50s, first the driver was injured while the truck was falling onto the Nissan vehicle. However, later that day he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Nissan passengers, a man and a woman in their mid 20s, were also pronounced dead at the scene.
The race driver, Daelio Lockhart, 35 years old, caused the crash, was arrested at the scene and facing vehicular manslaughter charges. He, however, doesn’t have a current criminal record.
The other driver in the Dodge Charger, fled off the scene and police has been searching for him ever since. The UPS semi- truck had burst into flames, and the Nissan vehicle was damaged beyond recognition after the crash.
