Two People are Dead After Big-Rig Collision in Madera County

Firebaugh, CA : Two people have died as a result of a crash that involved a big-rig in Madera County early in the morning on January 24, 2016.

Two people who were in a Toyota Camry are dead after their vehicle collided with a semi-truck early in the morning in Madera County. According to a California Highway Patrol officer that responded to the call about an accident, the incident took place at around 5am on Sunday.

The collision was between the Toyota Camry and a large big-rig, near the intersection of Avenue 7 and Road 16. The incident took place approximately 11 miles east of Firebaugh.

The details of the accident were not disclosed by the California Highway Patrol, but both passengers of the Toyota Camry were pronounced dead. The officer on the scene did comment that after the accident, the big-rig did catch on fire.

Once the big-rig caught fire, oil began spilling on to the highway and required the assistance of the local hazardous material removal experts to clear the scene.

The California Highway Patrol did not release the identity of either person that was killed in the crash, and no information about the driver of the big-rig was released. Both people who were killed died as a result of the impact with the truck according to authorities on the scene.
