Driver of Big-Rig Takes Off After Fatal Crash
April 30, 2016

The accident occurred in Vernon, California. Law enforcement officials contend that the driver of an 18-wheeler collided with a pickup, resulting in the truck itself becoming crushed underneath the big rig. The injuries to a passenger in the pick up truck ended up being fatal. Adding to the complexity of the case, the driver of the big rig unhitched his trailer and end up fleeing the scene of the crash.

Earlier, the 18-wheeler is believed to have been involved in minor crash that occurred no more than a block away. The driver then took off through a red light, where it collided with the pick up just after 3 in the morning. Photos from the scene reveal a big rig that was literally lying on top of the now crushed pick up, leaving little chance of survival for the passenger. He died at the scene, while the driver was fortunate enough to be freed and is now reported in good condition.

At the time of the report, the driver of the 18-wheeler has not been found, but an aggressive search for him is underway. This underscores the serious nature of big rig accidents, particularly on the congested roadways throughout California.
