One Injured on Highway 50 Big Rig Crash

Placerville, Calif. –A three-vehicle crash on Highway 50 shut down traffic headed west and injured one person Tuesday morning.

A big rig and two cars collided on Highway 50 resulting in closing the westbound lanes. The accident occurred in Placerville close to Greenstone Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities diverted traffic off Highway 50 at the Greenstone Road exit, and led traffic back on Highway 50 by a detour. The Caltrans District notified other drivers via a Tweet at 1:44 p.m. in the afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol Officials are currently investigating the cause of the three-vehicle accident. Alcohol and drugs are not contributing factors in the crash. However, authorities are looking into the speed of all vehicles involved.

The injured person sustained injuries. The California Highway Patrol has not released additional information about the status of the injured person from the accident or whether the person was taken to the hospital due to his injuries.
