A fatal car accident occurred November 28, 2015, in the “Blood Alley.”

A late-night collision between a semi-trailer and a Toyota Camry left one woman dead and another man seriously injured. The accident occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m. when the Toyota crossed the double yellow lines and collided with the semi.

The driver of the Toyota, an unidentified female, was extracted from the vehicle using the jaws of life. She died from her injuries before an ambulance could arrive. The passenger was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

A passenger in the semi told on-scene news crews that the semi was traveling on southbound Highway 395 en-route to Los Angeles when the accident occurred. He confirmed that the Toyota had crossed the double lines. Both lanes of traffic were stopped for several hours as crews worked frantically to treat the injured and clear the roadway of debris.

Some roadside memorials stretch a portion of Highway 395, dubbed “Blood Alley.” Dozens of serious and fatal automobile accidents have occurred through that segment of San Bernadino County, between I-15 and Adelanto. Blood Alley has claimed hundreds of lives, spanning decades.
