Motorcyclist Killed in Sage Accident near Red Mountain Sage Roads

Sage, California (June 19, 2023) – A 20-year-old male motorcyclist from Camp Pendleton was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday morning in Sage.

According to the authorities, the incident was reported at around 9:50 am. June 18 near Red Mountain and Sage Roads.

The CHP said a man was riding a 2016 BMW S1100 motorcycle northbound on Sage Road just north of Red Mountain Road at about 90-100 mph.

At the same time, a 49-year-old man was driving a 2011 Nissan Frontier southbound on Sage at approximately 45-50 mph.

Authorities said as the motorcyclist approached a curve in the roadway, he could not negotiate the curve because he was traveling fast.

The motorcycle and the rider slid across the double yellow lines and hit the right front of the pickup truck.

The motorcycle rider died at the scene.

The pickup truck driver was injured and remained at the site.

The crash remains under investigation.
