Five fatally injured in Wasco Crash on State Route 43

5 Killed and 1 Critically Hurt in Head-On Collision on State Route 43 in Wasco
Wasco, California (March 26, 2018) – Five people were fatally injured and one critically hurt in a head-on collision involving two vehicles in Wasco on Sunday night, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The fatal crash occurred on State Route 43 near Wasco Avenue shortly after 8:30 p.m. Sunday, March 25.
Police said a pickup truck, driven by a woman, was traveling south on State Route 43 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle swerved into the southbound side and collided with a sedan occupied by a Bakersfield family.
Two adults and two minors riding in the sedan were killed in the crash.
The pickup truck driver also died in the crash.
The fifth occupant of the sedan, a teenage boy, was transported by helicopter to Kern Medical. The boy was hospitalized with major injuries..
Intoxication was suspected to have played a role crash, CHP said.
An investigation is ongoing.
