Pregnant Woman, Unborn Child Killed in Hit-And-Run Crash near Rainbow and Lake Mead Boulevards in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, Nevada (March 28, 2018) – A pregnant woman and her unborn child died in a Monday morning car crash involving a hit-and-run driver in Las Vegas.
According to a police report, the crash occurred near Rainbow and Lake Mead boulevards at about 6:50 a.m. on Monday, March 26.
Police said Monique K. Leiwalo was driving a 2014 Dodge Dart northbound on Rainbow Avenue when the driver of a 2006 Dodge Durango sideswiped another vehicle and crashed into the rear of the Dart.
The impact pushed Leiwalo’s Dart into a utility pole.
Leiwalo was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Durango, who was later identified as Timothy Naas Jr., 26, fled the scene before police arrived, but was later taken into custody.
Naas was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. The crash is under investigation.
