Man Killed and Woman Injured in Raleigh Crash on Knightdale Road at Old Milburnie Road
1 Killed, 1 Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on Knightdale Road at Old Milburnie Road in Raleigh
Raleigh, North Carolina (April 10, 2018) – A man was killed and his wife was injured in a wrong-way crash in Raleigh Sunday morning, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The deadly incident occurred at about 1:50 a.m. Sunday, April 8 on Knightdale Road at Old Milburnie Road.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Jesus Velez-Alvarado was driving his vehicle on the wrong side of the road when he slammed head-on into another vehicle driven by Leroy Owens.
Owens died at the scene while his wife, Lakeatia Owens, sustained life-threatening injuries.
Velez-Alvarado was cited for driving while impaired and heading the wrong way on dual lane highway.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
