One Killed in 2-Vehicle Collision at Thompson Street and Randall Wobbe Lane in Springdale

Springdale, Arkansas (March 31, 2018) – A person was killed Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle collision in Springdale, according to Springdale Police Department report.

The accident occurred shortly before 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 20 at the intersection of Thompson Street and Randall Wobbe Lane.

According to the Springdale Police Department report, Christian Rainwater, 20, was operating a maroon 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe northbound on Thompson Street when a black 2004 Cadillac turned southbound onto Thompson Street from Randall Wobbe Lane.

The Tahoe ran a red light, striking the Cadillac in the driver’s side door.

The driver of the Cadillac, Javier Mancia, 64, of Springdale, was taken to Northwest Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Rainwater was cited for reckless driving.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
