1 Killed, 5 Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision on Mountain Avenue in Hemet

Hemet, California (March 27, 2018) – One person was killed and five others hospitalized following a grisly two-vehicle accident late Saturday night in Hemet.

According to a report by the Hemet Police Department, the collision took place at around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24, on Mountain Avenue west of Soboba Road.

Police said a Ford Focus was traveling westbound on Mountain Avenue when it swerved across a double yellow line and collided with an oncoming Chevrolet truck. The driver of the Chevrolet reportedly attempted to avoid a crash but ended up colliding with the Ford and the impact caused the Ford to roll over.

According to the report, Timothy Gibbons, 23, of Hemet, was a passenger in the Ford and sustained major injuries. He was rushed to Riverside University Health System Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased shortly before midnight.

All occupants of the truck were taken to a hospital and were all expected to survive.

The driver of the ford was also hospitalized with serious injuries.

Police said alcohol was suspected to be involved in the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
