El Dorado County, CA : 3-year-old boy was killed when the car he was in collided with an SUV on January 29 2016.
A 3-year-old boy was killed on Thursday when the car that he was riding in collided with an SUV on wet roads in El Dorado County.
The child was riding in a car driven by Jacob Jimenez, 43, at 4 pm Thursday. The car was traveling southbound on Mt. Aukum Road, according to California Highway Patrol. The officer says that Jimenez suddenly lost control of the car and he suddenly was forced into oncoming traffic. The right side of his vehicle was then hit by an SUV that was traveling northbound.
The 3 year-old boy was secure in a safety seat, and was seated in the right rear of Jimenez’s car. Jimenez did suffer serious injuries as a result of the crash, and was later transported to the hospital.
According to authorities at Marshall Hospital, Jimenez was treated for multiple injuries. The driver of the SUV that could not avoid Jimenez’s car did not suffer any injuries.
The California Highway Patrol officer noted that the roads were wet and slick, and that the tires on Jimenez’s car were in extremely poor condition. He noted the tread was significantly worn down, but did not report this was the ultimate cause of the accident.
