Clovis man hit by car while riding a bike

A man in Clovis was killed in mid-April while riding his bicycle. He was riding his bicycle on a Wednesday morning. Police were immediately called to the scene, which was located between Shaw and Highland.

John Weader of Clovis Police gave a report to the media and he stated that around 6:06 AM the police received a call reporting a vehicle vs. bicycle accident.

The victim was Patrick TeNyenhuis, a 49-year-old from the area. He was hit by a car while riding in the bike lane on Shaw Avenue. He was wearing a helmet, but he was killed at the scene. When authorities arrived at the scene they were not sure why the accident was killed at the scene.

When authorities arrived at the scene they were able to ascertain several facts about the case. They found that both vehicles were going in the same direction. The car struck the bicycle from behind while he was riding in the bike lane. The other car was a Toyota Sedan.

Police have currently not determined if the driver of the sedan was at fault, but the driver is being cooperative. The driver has not yet been charged.

The biker leaves behind a young wife and two daughters. He worked as a physical therapist and he will be missed by the community.
