Saturday morning, May 7th, 2016 a nearly fatal accident occurred in Sacramento, California.
The accident involved a FedEx Driver who was accused of driving under intoxication and a California Highway Patrol officer. The FedEx driver has been identified as 41 year old Gregory Anthony Ramirez. Ramirez reported drove his FedEx work vehicle into a CHP officer.
The for-stated officer who remains unidentified was believed to be working to clear up a two-car collision on high way 50. The officer responded to this call at 3:10 am. It was shortly after this time, at exactly 3:30 am that FedEx driver Gregory Anthony Ramirez reportedly struck the officer when near the 16th street on ramp of highway 50.
It is believed that the officer will survive the injuries caused by Mr. Ramirez’s striking. Shortly after the incident, Ramirez was taken into custody at the CHP (California Highway Patrol) station and was later arrested.
However the exact context in which Mr. Ramirez struct the officer are not known. According to CHP’s public information officer, Micheal Bradley, Ramirez struck the now veteran officer either directly or after first hitting the officers patrol car.
The officer is believed to sustain his serious injures and to survive the impact caused by Mr. Ramirez’s Federal Express tractor-trailer.
