Anthony Terrones of Lompoc was killed in a traffic accident October 30 when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a Chevy Impala. Terrones was thrown from the bike onto the roadway and he was subsequently struck by a fellow motorcyclist who was approaching the scene. California Highway Patrol stated that Terrones was driving at an accelerated rate of speed and failed to brake in time. Neither alcohol nor drugs were considered a factor according to police at the scene. Terrones was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving attempts while the second motorcyclist was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries. According to statements from the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala was not injured. The accident occurred at approximately 9:53 am near the southbound transition ramp by Hwy 1 and U.S. 101.
