On Saturday, May 7th, a young male from Saratoga died after losing control of his vehicle going southbound on Highway 35, near the border of San Mateo county. The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene after receiving information about the solo vehicle accident at 11:57 a.m.
Upon arriving at the crash site, a 2015 four-door Audi Sedan was found rolled over with the driver, a seventeen year-old male, trapped inside. CHP Officer Art Montiel concludes that the combination of the driver traveling at a high speed on wet roads caused the teen to spin out of control and crash into the tree. The youth from Saratoga was pronounced dead at the scene after Cal Fire personnel extricated his body from the vehicle.
The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office has yet to release the young male’s name. However, according to CHP it does not appear that the deceased was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.
At 12:43 p.m., CHP put out notice for a traffic alert in both directions, which cleared up around 4:11 p.m.
It has been asked that anyone who witnessed or has any information pertaining to the accident call Officer Jared Traub at (650)369-6261.
