One Car Wrapped Around A Traffic Pole

“It’s a tragedy,” stated LT.Pete Hettema of the Pasadena police department. The accident occurred on Wednesday, March 30th at 7:00 a.m. leaving a family in mourning. A 2003 red Ford Mustang hit a traffic pole so hard that the car split in half killing two occupants. The victims included 23-year-old Reynold Chilel-Ramirez and his nephew Adelfo Chilel-Lopez, 17, who died at the scene. Ramirez later died at the hospital.

Fire personnel rescued two victims trapped in the backseat of the mustang. They were badly injured and taken to the hospital. The four men were on their way to work in the San Gabriel Valley.

The two-car collision happened at the intersection of East Villa Street and North Lake Avenue, stated a spokeswoman from the Pasadena Fire Department. The other vehicle in the crash was a powder blue 2006 Kia Sorento, that driver only suffered minor injuries.

Speed is thought to be a factor in the accident. The Ford was said to be going in excess of 80 miles an hour. The vehicles were not suspected of racing but the true cause is still under investigation.
