Most car accidents involve two moving parties. However, a man recently crashed his vehicle into a parked big rig on the 405 freeway. This occurred shortly after 7 AM. There was nobody inside of the parked big rig, so fortunately, there were no additional casualties. But the man who crashed into the truck died.
The big rig was parked on the shoulder of the freeway due to mechanical problems. It had broken down and needed to be repaired. This certainly did create a dangerous situation, as a few seconds of negligence could lead to a dangerous and fatal accident.
The top of the vehicle was crushed in the collision. At speeds as high as one would find on the freeway, that is to be expected. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Immediately after the crash, the freeway remained open. But there was a SigAlert issue for the two far right lanes. Despite that, traffic did not seem to be particularly congested as a result of the incident. People proceeded on their way without any major traffic jams.
This horrifying incident serves as a grim reminder to the people of California that they should keep their eyes on the road at all times. A moment of distraction could be the last moment that one has on earth.
